Who’s Putting Folgers In Your Cup?

Douglas E. Rice just wrote a nice post on his morning routine that it made me think about mine and I thought I would continue the thread and share here with you all. Now I’ll warn you that it’s not nearly as productive as Douglas’s but if your mornings are less so than mine, as least I made you feel a little better :)

Wake-Up 5:30

Yes, I wake up at 5:30. This is considered pretty crazy amongst my circle of friends and even co-workers but I do and you will see why if you keep on reading.

Hit Snooze Approximately 5 Times

At 5 times for 10 minutes each, I am officially out of bed with the lights on at about 6:20 give or take a couple more or less presses of that magic button.

Daily Maintenance

Shower, brush teeth, make lunch, feed Tini (pictured here to make you smile), heat up my clothes in the dryer (because it’s winter and I like them toasty)

Out the Door by 7:30 The Latest

I live about 28 miles from our office. But…it takes me upwards of 2 hours sometimes. Hitting just the right window to avoid the rush is crucial. 5 minutes early or 5 minutes late can be suicide.

Fuel, Consume and Organize

Once I get to work and fire up my laptop, I get some coffee and start to prioritize my day. I’m a big fan of checklists so I will look at yesterday’s list and carry over anything that is not crossed off and add the new stuff. I then add a star to everything that absolutely must get done. I also spend some time getting caught up in my reading and what everyone is talking about on the social channels.

How do you start your day?

O – and if you’re wondering about the title, I heard this woman call into the radio station the other day and was talking about how she thought her man was cheating on her. I found it very comical when she said ‘who the heck is putting Folgers in his cup?’ Ha!

  1. Thanks for the shout-out, Christina. Your morning routine is definitely more realistic. I try to cram my morning with all these lofty things that tap into my humanity and creative powers. After I’m done with all that fell-good stuff, though, I DO brush my teeth. I just want to go on record for that ;-D.

    • @douglaserice I love your routine! A majority of people I know and have connected with like the mornings to unleash their creativity – I am more of an afternoon/evening person in that regard. Maybe we will start a meme with our posts? :)
