I spent the morning in bed with ‘Anything You Want’ by Derek Sivers. Like most books in Seth Godin’s Domino Project, it took about an hour to get through the book cover to cover but I got quite a lot out of it in the short period including clear confirmation of who I want to work for in regards to both leadership and the type of company and also what I am passionate about and what bothers me.
Recently I was laid off by a company due to management restructuring. A lot of my peers have told me this was the best thing that ever could have happened to me. Friends tell me I have been miserable because of my job for the last few months. And my family is happy to see that I am home at nights and not working on Sundays. So what happened? When did my passion for working harder, longer, better turn into working to work?
